Job Summary
Conduct law enforcement patrol functions at city parks and recreation facilities, including answering calls for service, proactive patrolling by vehicle, boat, bicycle, and on foot, and responding to emergencies involving considerable danger. Execute independent judgment on detentions, searches, arrests, and use of force; operate law enforcement vehicles in emergency conditions; and perform rescue operations requiring physical agility, such as climbing, dragging, and entering confined areas. Gathers investigative information through interviews, conducts visual and audio surveillance, and processes suspects by fingerprinting and photographing. Assist with special events, mediate disputes, and communicate effectively with the public, while collecting revenue and preparing reports. Work nights, weekends, and holidays under varying weather conditions.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or Qualified GED
- Must be able to meet state requirements for Basic Law Enforcement certification
- North Carolina Training and Standards Commission certification
- 21 years of age
- Thorough knowledge of local, state, and federal laws
- Ability to act and respond without direct supervision
- Use of independent judgement in meeting emergencies
- Resourcefulness and sound judgement during emergencies
- Demonstrated integrity and tact
- Valid North Carolina Driver's License
- Ability to perceive via eyesight (Acuity far, Acuity near, Depth perception, Field of Vision, Accommodation, Color Vision)
- Medium to Heavy Physical Strength
- Ability to walk, stand, climb, bend, stoop, jump, lift, carry, drag, pull, push, reach, grasp, kneel, crawl, balance, and sit
