Job Summary
Inspect, repair, and maintain park amenities, facilities, and equipment, including plumbing, electrical, HVAC, carpentry, and masonry systems. Perform daily trades tasks such as installing playground equipment, maintaining irrigation, setting up aquatic areas, and removing snow from grounds. Clean all park areas, manage hand tools and grounds equipment, and provide customer service to patrons. Communicate departmental matters to leadership and follow Park District policies while offering suggestions to improve efficiency.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Five (5) years' field experience related to all facets of park and facility maintenance
- Experience with a trades skill
- Ability to read and interpret sketches and blueprints
- Ability to read and follow manuals and operating instructions
- Use of grounds equipment, including, but not limited to, tractors, loaders, trucks, chainsaws, hand-operated pesticide applications equipment, lifts, woodchippers, snowblowers, power and hand tools
- Ability to work independently and manage time efficiently
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Strong attention to detail
- Ability to be flexible and learn new tasks
- Ability to work independently
- American Red Cross CPR/AED Certification
- Valid driver's license
- Ability to obtain Playground Safety Inspector Certification
- Regularly required to stand, walk, sit, bend, twist, squat and use hands to finger, handle, grasp, manipulate or feel

Desired Qualifications
- Associates degree or professional certification in a building trade (plumbing, HVAC, electrical, carpentry, masonry)
