Job Summary
Plan and conduct risk-based financial and internal-control reviews of parishes, managing the full audit lifecycle from self-assessment through reporting and corrective action. Evaluate accounting practices, financial records, and compliance with diocesan policies while independently validating significant representations through audit testing. Develop well-supported findings and practical recommendations, present audit reports to Pastors and leadership, and establish tracked corrective-action plans to verify remediation before closing findings. Serve as a trusted resource to parish personnel and Finance Councils on accounting and internal controls, identifying recurring issues to strengthen diocesan audit practices using applicable USCCB guidance and professional standards. Requires a Bachelor's in Accounting with five years of audit experience; CPA or similar certification preferred. Based in the Diocese of Nashville with regular travel to parish locations.
Required Qualifications
- Bachelor's degree in Accounting or a closely related field
- At least five years of progressively responsible accounting and audit experience
- Significant hands-on audit experience, including internal-control evaluation, transaction testing, audit documentation, findings, and formal reporting
- Strong accounting, analytical, risk-assessment, written communication, interpersonal, and professional judgment skills, including maturity in handling sensitive or disputed financial matters
- Ability to travel regularly to parish locations throughout the Diocese

Desired Qualifications
