Parent Support Worker - La Ronge

Job Summary
The Parent Support Worker will provide in-home support to families with infants and children aged 0-6, including basic infant care, infant stimulation, and fostering healthy child development; act as a liaison and advocate for families; deliver health-promotion topics, plan and run workshops and community education events, and collaborate with Health Care Professionals and the Public Health Nursing & Health Team to deliver programs and services. The role requires strong interpersonal and organizational skills, flexibility, and the ability to work independently within a strength-based, culturally-informed framework. Experience with First Nations communities and Cree language skills are assets, as is a valid Class 5 Driver’s License. In-home duties include developing awareness materials and administering the nutrition coupon program, with potential overtime for 7.5-hour shifts.
Required Qualifications
- Early Childhood Education Certificate (Combination of Education and experience may be considered)
- Growing Great Kids (GGK) Curriculum training is an asset or willing to obtain
- Certified First Aide & CPR and Safe Food Handling Certificate required or willing to obtain
- Personal experience as a parent or caregiver of infants &/or young children, is an asset
- Strong verbal and written communication skills
- Able to work independently, be self-directed and demonstrate organizational skills
- The ability to speak/understand Cree a definite asset
- Experience working with First Nations Communities is an asset
- Must possess a valid Class 5 Driver’s License
