Job Summary
Develop a district-wide parent and family engagement plan in partnership with Title I school site leaders to coordinate major events and initiatives. Plan, coordinate, and lead district-wide activities such as family engagement nights, literacy celebrations, and cultural events that strengthen connections to Onslow County Schools. Identify and foster partnerships with community organizations, businesses, and civic agencies to expand resources for Title I students and families. Provide technical support to schools in creating welcoming environments, including school tours and orientation sessions for new families. Direct the preparation and maintenance of narrative and statistical reports related to assigned services and operations. Seek and manage budgets for parent engagement programs while facilitating parent learning opportunities like workshops and informational sessions. Work with the EL Division to support WIDA screeners and connect EL families with their children's schools.
Required Qualifications
- Ability to exercise good judgment, take initiative and work with minimal supervision
- Ability to interact and communicate with district and school staff and the public
- Ability to maintain complete and accurate records and to develop meaningful reports from that information
- Ability to assess the effectiveness of programs and activities
- Ability to develop long-range plans
- Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships as necessitated by work assignments including students, parents and school personnel
- Ability to plan, coordinate, and execute district-wide events that foster parent and family engagement
- Ability to create, cultivate, and sustain community partnerships that expand resources and opportunities for students and families
- Ability to work a flexible schedule, including evenings and afterschool hours, to attend and support family and community engagement activities
- Experience coordinating parent/family engagement events
- Experience interpreting and applying data
- Knowledge of curriculum, instructional strategies, and resources
- Knowledge of the NC accountability and testing models
- Must hold or be eligible to hold a North Carolina teaching license
- Ability to be physically active, which includes, but is not limited to, standing, pushing, pulling, squatting, bending, sitting and walking
- Ability to reach with hands and arms routinely
- Ability to operate technology for prolonged periods of time
- Ability to carry furniture such as tables and chairs, supplies, materials, and equipment
- Must be able to lift a minimum of 50 pounds
- Must be able to visually and auditorily effectively communicate with staff and students
Desired Qualifications
- Spanish language proficiency preferred
- 2 or more years in a related position preferred
