Parent Educator

Job Summary
Parent Educator provides group-based education, individual consultation, and support services to caregivers and children across office, community, or home-based locations. Responsibilities include developmental screening, service planning, teaching, resource and referral, supporting parent/child interactions, crisis management, and building formal/informal support networks. Includes collaboration with data staff, program leaders, grant writing or program development in some offices, and outreach to communities. Requires engagement with internal/external teams, maintaining records, and delivering services with cultural sensitivity. May travel to surrounding communities for outreach; role spans activities from education workshops to one-to-one parent consultations and connection to community services. Language skills (bilingual) are a plus; continuing education and credentials related to child development and family support are part of ongoing professional requirements.
Required Qualifications
- High School graduate or GED or High School Equivalency Diploma (HSED) required
- Bachelor's Degree preferred
- 1+ years experience working in community programs with families of diverse ethnic, cultural and socioeconomic background required
- Experience working with or providing services to children and families required
- Bilingual in Spanish/English or Hmong/English is a plus
