Job Summary
Assist special education and general education teachers with classroom instruction, IEP accommodations, and daily living skills like feeding and mobility. Monitor students in multiple environments, lead small group activities, and facilitate communication between teachers. Provide physical care as needed, including diaper changing and bathroom support, while de-escalating behavioral issues and collecting data on progress. Escort students to and from classes and buses, and assist with assistive technology. Maintain student documentation and records. Work seven hours daily with a 30-minute lunch, reporting to the building principal.
Required Qualifications
- A minimum of a high school diploma or its equivalent
- Possess the ability to effectively communicate, verbally, and in written form, with administrators, staff, and the community as needed
- Ability to maintain highly confidential information
- Ability to concentrate in an environment where numerous conversations and activities may be taking place simultaneously
- Good vision and hearing capabilities
- Ability to lift over 20 lbs
- Ability to occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull up to 100 lbs
- Ability to reach, stand, walk, climb, sit, grasp, and use repetitive movements
Desired Qualifications
- Experience working with children
- A minimum of sixty (60) college hours
- Ability to obtain a substitute teacher certification
- Competence in the duties to be performed
