Job Summary
Provide instructional assistance to students under the direct supervision of a certified teacher by preparing, conducting, and managing classroom activities. Assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics while working with individual students or small groups. Support the teacher by administering objective testing instruments, maintaining classroom order, and managing inventory of instructional equipment. Supervise students throughout the school day, including lunchroom, bus, and playground duty, while covering classes for teacher absences when substitutes are unavailable.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or hold a General Educational Development (GED) certificate
- Have met formal academic assessment, associate's degree, or two years of study at an institution of higher learning*
- Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
- Ability to work well with children
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Some experience working with children
