Job Summary
Provide instructional assistance to students under the direct supervision of a certified teacher by preparing and managing classroom activities, instructing reading, writing, and mathematics, and administering objective testing instruments. Assist in maintaining a neat classroom, managing inventory, and keeping administrative records while supervising students throughout the school day, including lunchroom, bus, and playground duties. Cover classes for teacher absences when substitutes are unavailable and participate in staff development training and faculty meetings. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures while working inside and outside in various environmental conditions.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or hold a General Educational Development (GED) certificate
- Have met formal academic assessment, associate's degree, or two years of study at an institution of higher learning*
- Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
- Ability to work well with children
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Some experience working with children
