Job Summary
Provide instructional assistance to students under the direct supervision of a certified teacher by preparing, conducting, and managing classroom activities. Assist with administering and scoring objective testing instruments, maintaining orderly classroom environments, and managing equipment inventory. Help supervise students throughout the school day, including lunchroom, bus, and playground duties, while covering classes for teacher absences when substitutes are unavailable. Make teachers aware of special needs or problems for individual students. Participate in staff development training programs, faculty meetings, and special events as assigned. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or hold a General Educational Development (GED) certificate
- Have met formal academic assessment, associate's degree, or two years of study at an institution of higher learning*
- Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
- Ability to work well with children
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Some experience working with children
