Job Summary
Implement lessons and activities with necessary accommodations and modifications for students in the classroom under direct supervision. Execute interventions and de-escalation strategies for behavioral issues while collecting and recording behavioral, social, and academic data per individual goals. Assist students with physical or social disabilities in activities of daily living, including self-care tasks like toileting, and supervise non-instructional areas such as lunch programs, bus duty, and corridors. Establish a supportive relationship with students with disabilities and collaborate with staff to foster student success. This role is part of the MDAP program at Brennan Middle School, which emphasizes adaptive living, communication, and self-regulation skills. Candidates must have experience with ABA principles and data collection, with a preference for safety care training and CNA certification.
Required Qualifications
- Prior experience working with students with disabilities
- Ability to carry out instructions furnished in written or oral form
- Ability to work with a diverse group of individuals
- Ability to maintain confidentiality of information regarding students, employees and others
- Ability to establish a supportive and compassionate relationship with students with disabilities
- Ability to establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with students, staff and others contacted in the course of work
- Effective writing and verbal communication skills
- Able to assist with all aspects of student self-care
- Implement crisis/emergency procedures according to protocol
- Highly Qualified: 2 years college credits or equivalent or passing score of the ParaPro Test
