Job Summary
Assist students individually or in small groups with lesson assignments, facilitate activities, check homework, and reinforce learning concepts under the supervision of a certificated teacher. Monitor students in various settings including classrooms, playgrounds, and field trips to ensure a safe and positive learning environment. Implement instructional programs and lesson plans to support academic success while maintaining classroom equipment, student files, and records. Perform clerical functions such as copying, grading papers, and taking attendance to support the teacher. Attend meetings and in-service presentations to acquire job-related information. Prepare and maintain accurate records while operating standard office equipment and software applications.
Required Qualifications
- Minimum of 2 year college degree in any area, or 60 hours of college work, or passing score on the Paraprofessional exam
- Operating standard office equipment including using pertinent software applications
- Preparing and maintaining accurate records
- Basic math, including calculations using fractions, percents, and/or ratios
- Reading and following instructions
- Understanding multi-step written and oral instructions
- Concepts of grammar and punctuation
- Stages of child development and learning styles
- Age appropriate activities
- Scheduling activities
- Collating data
- Using basic, job-related equipment
- Flexibility to work with others in a variety of circumstances
- Working with data utilizing specific, defined processes
- Operating equipment using defined methods
- Communicating with diverse groups
- Maintaining confidentiality

- Working with constant interruptions
- Problem solving with data following prescribed guidelines
- Problem solving with equipment
- Occasional lifting, carrying, pushing, and/or pulling
- Some stooping, kneeling, crouching, and/or crawling
- Significant fine finger dexterity
- Annual Bloodborne Pathogen Training
- TB clearance
- Criminal Justice Fingerprint/Background Clearance
