Job Summary
Paraprofessional in Special Education Autism supports teachers under Principal/Teacher supervision by providing one-on-one assistance to students, delivering instruction under direct supervision, and assisting with social-emotional skills, behavioral supports, and academic activities. Responsible for preparing learning materials tailored to individual learning styles, aiding in specialized assessment and progress documentation, aligning with students’ IEP goals, and collaborating in co-teaching settings. Also assists with field trips, data collection for state databases, and school functions while maintaining confidentiality and professional conduct. Requires an Associate’s Degree or equivalent coursework (or Georgia Paraprofessional Assessment) and experience with students with autism or developmental delays; non-exempt status applicable.
Required Qualifications
- Associate’s Degree or 60 semester hours or 90 quarter hours through an accredited school OR passing score on the Paraprofessional Assessment acceptable in Georgia
- Experience working with students who display characteristics associated with Autism Spectrum Disorder and/or other developmental delays
- Ability to work cooperatively with school personnel, parents, students, and community members
