Job Summary
Work closely with students with special needs in small group or 1:1 settings while building rapport and fostering a safe, nurturing learning environment. Support resource teachers in delivering individual education plans (IEP's) and take direction from lead educators to assist when needed. Some roles include assisting with moderate to severe scenarios such as toileting, personal 1:1 care, non-verbal communication, and challenging or aggressive behaviors in the classroom. This paraprofessional position offers daily pay ranging by assignment length, with weekly paychecks via direct deposit. Scoot Education matches candidates to schools including public, charter, private, and faith-based institutions for long-term or short-term placements.
Required Qualifications
- Passion for education and putting students first
- An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be
- College credits, Associate's Degree, Bachelors Degree or CBEST
- Three professional references, including at least one from a previous supervisor
- State & federal background checks
Desired Qualifications
- Worked with children who have Special Education needs
- Spent time in Special Education settings
- Any Special Education specific training
- ABA experience (Applied Behavior Analysis)
- Experience working in K-12 schools
- Experience with assisting in various mod to severe scenarios such as Toileting; Personal 1:1 Care; Non-Verbal; Challenging or Aggressive Behaviors in the Classroom
