Job Summary
Paraprofessional/Paraeducator assists a certified teacher by preparing instructional materials, implementing lesson plans, reinforcing instruction and tutoring, and documenting student progress throughout the school day. Responsibilities include actively supporting lesson delivery, monitoring and redirecting student behavior according to procedures, maintaining accurate records of student progress and behavior, assisting with testing and progress monitoring, communicating with parents and staff about student progress under the teacher’s direction, participating in meetings, promoting a nurturing and safe learning environment, and staying informed about PDE regulations and state/national standards through professional development. Performs related duties and projects as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent may be required
- Experience working with children or in educational settings is often preferred
- Good communication and record-keeping skills
- Ability to follow teacher direction and policies
- Knowledge of PDE regulations and state standards a plus
- Ability to maintain confidentiality and a professional demeanor
