PARAPROFESSIONAL

Assist teachers with teaching-related activities and non-teaching assignments; support classroom management such as reading instructions to pupils, supervising lessons, reading stories, listening to oral reading, checking seat work; work with children on a one-to-one basis and in groups under direct supervision of teachers; duties scheduled by the principal and aligned with Title I, Special Education, and parish guidelines; involvement includes organizing and filing materials, reproducing materials, and using audio-visual equipment; position reports to the principal and follows a definite school-day schedule; term is nine or ten months; requires high school diploma or equivalent and potential eligibility by associate degree, 48 college credits, or Para-Pro Assessment.
