Job Summary
Support classroom teachers in preparing and conducting engaging activities while assisting children in daily routines to develop social, self-help, and educational skills. Guide children in acquiring social skills through play, maintain sanitation and safety standards, and prepare instructional materials and classroom decorations. Collaborate with staff to ensure smooth center operations, distribute communications to families, and participate in transition activities and health checklists. Actively pursue professional development toward a CDA credential and maintain accurate records with confidentiality. Perform these duties while working Monday through Friday from 12:00 p.m. to 5:30 p.m., averaging 200 days per year from August to July. Current or former Head Start parents are encouraged to apply.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Minimum 18 years of age
- Experience working with children ages birth to 5 years of age
- Must be willing to participate in a program to obtain a CDA within two years of employment
- Knowledge of Child Development and Child Safety
- Ability to work with small children in a group setting
- Ability to plan age appropriate activities for children
- Must be able to exert up to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or up to 20 pounds of force frequently, and/or up to 10 pounds of force constantly
- Must be willing to participate in a background check
- Must be willing to participate in a drug screening
- Must be willing to participate in a lift test
- Must be willing to participate in a TB screening questionnaire and/or TB skin test
- Must be willing to participate in a complete physical examination
- Must be willing to participate in fingerprinting
- Must be willing to undergo a physical reexamination on an annual or bi-annual basis
- Must be willing to maintain fingerprint clearance every five years
