Job Summary
Paraprofessional role supporting Special Education in Pre K: assists instructional staff with individual/small-group work, prepares materials, manages classroom setup, and provides non-instructional support including supervising lunch, bus duty, and centers. Responsibilities include aiding with medical/physical needs after training, operating A-V equipment, maintaining discipline per school policies, attending meetings, and assisting with data collection and reporting. Requires coinciding with teacher schedule, ability to work with students with disabilities, and willingness to participate in paraeducator training and sign language course if needed. Minimum qualifications include an Associate Degree or 48 college hours or successful ParaPro Praxis with high school diploma/equivalency; must be 18+ (and 21+ for high school employment); position located in Lafitte, LA (in-person role).
Required Qualifications
- An Associate Degree OR Forty-eight (48) hours of approved college courses OR Pass ParaPro Praxis and have high school diploma and/or equivalency
- Eighteen (18) years of age or older
- Twenty-one (21) years of age or older for employment in high school
- Must agree to participate in paraeducator training and enroll in sign language course if assigned to hearing impaired class
