Job Summary
The Paraprofessional at the Positive Action Center (PAC) is responsible for providing academic assistance, maintaining a positive learning environment, and collaborating closely with teachers. Essential duties include interacting courteously with students, staff, and parents, recording data for documentation and evaluation, serving as a role model, and managing crises effectively. Candidates should possess an Associate's degree or its equivalent and have strong interpersonal skills, organizational abilities, and the ability to work with a diverse student population. Experience in similar roles and a commitment to professional conduct are preferred.
Required Qualifications
- An Associate's degree, OR completion of 48 semester hours or 72 quarter hours at an institution of higher learning, OR demonstrated proficiency in the ability to assist in the instruction of reading, writing and mathematics via state or locally approved competency test.
- Evidence of good mental and physical health.
- Ability to perform as a team member.
- Ability to follow oral and written directions.
- Reliable transportation needed.
Desired Qualifications
- Previous PAC or ISS/SSC experience preferred.
- One or more years of job-related experience or its equivalent (preferred).
- Ability to work with and meet individual needs of all students.
- Excellent attendance and work record.
Additional Requirements
- Must obtain and provide verification of all licenses, certificates, and other requirements for the position.
- Background check is required.
- Verification of U.S. citizenship or legal authorization to work in the United States is required.
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test (if required).
- Successful completion of a tuberculosis skin test (if required).
- Successful completion of a pre-employment medical examination is required.
