Job Summary
Paraprofessional position supporting students with disabilities in the Pegasus/PPCD program in New Braunfels, TX. Responsibilities include meeting individual students’ physical and instructional needs in and out of the classroom, helping integrate students with disabilities with non-disabled peers in self-help, behavior management, and instructional activities, and assisting with instructional materials, classroom organization, and records. Work under the general supervision of the principal and the PPCD teacher, with duties including supervision during meals, bus, and playground times, collaboration with the PPCD teacher to evaluate lesson plans, maintaining confidentiality, and participating in staff development and school events. Requires high school diploma or GED, a valid Texas Educational Aide Certificate, and college coursework or an associate degree or equivalent demonstrated ability in instructing reading, writing, and math as appropriate.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Texas Educational Aide Certificate
- Completion of at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (48 semester hours) or associate’s degree or demonstrated ability to assist in reading/writing/math instruction
- Ability to work with children with disabilities
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Knowledge of general office equipment
- Some experience working with children
