Job Summary
Meet individual needs of disabled students with significant behavior challenges, providing support for self-help, behavior management, and instructional integration. Assist teachers with preparing materials, maintaining classroom order, and conducting small-group instructional exercises. Supervise students throughout the school day and during after-school hours, including lunchroom, bus, and playground duty. Maintain student progress documentation, administrative records, and district equipment inventory while ensuring confidentiality. Work collaboratively with the PPCD teacher to evaluate lesson plans and participate in staff development and faculty meetings.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Valid Texas Educational Aide Certificate
- Completion of at least two years of study at an institution of higher education (48 semester hours of college coursework); or have obtained, at minimum, an associate's degree; or met a rigorous standard of quality and can demonstrate, through a formal state or local academic assessment knowledge or, and the ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and math or knowledge or, and the ability to assist in instructing reading and writing readiness, and math readiness, as appropriate
- Ability to work with children with disabilities
- Ability to follow verbal and written instructions
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Knowledge of general office equipment
- Some experience working with children
