Job Summary
Deliver lesson plans and provide instructional support while co-teaching alongside Special Education teachers. Assist students individually and in small groups, collaborating with counselors and mental health partners to navigate behavioral misconduct, emotional disorders, and substance use issues. Proactively monitor behaviors and intervene during escalations to maintain a safe, structured, and positive classroom environment. This role supports grades K–12 within an alternative school program emphasizing trauma-informed, culturally responsive care. Bilingual candidates (English/Spanish) are preferred.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED
- Ability to pass the ParaPro Exam
- 2+ years of experience working with at-risk youth
- Able to pass background and criminal record checks
- Compliance with drug-free workplace rules
- Meets all mandated health requirements (e.g., negative tuberculosis test)
