Job Summary

Provide student services consistent with service center mission and legal requirements by performing non-teaching support services as a collaborative member of the educational team. Assist individuals and small student groups with daily living activities, behavior management, discrete trial training, and remedial or enrichment activities as directed. Prepare and distribute classroom materials, maintain program equipment, and help students manage the learning environment using assistive technology and mobility assistance. Document classroom records and data collection while reinforcing instructional objectives introduced by teachers. Support an inclusive educational environment by helping students assimilate into the school and implementing classroom accommodations. Maintain accurate records, submit required paperwork on time, and resolve issues tactfully using active listening and problem-solving techniques. Uphold high ethical standards, respect privacy, and comply with all legal statutes regarding harassment, discrimination, and suspected child abuse.

Required Qualifications

  • Valid state department of education license/permit as determined at the time of appointment
  • Approved degree
  • Completion of requisite higher
  • Educational aide permit required
  • Documents/maintains a record free of criminal violations that prohibit public school employment

  • Must maintain an acceptable attendance record
  • Must wear work attire appropriate for the position
  • Must respect privacy
  • Must resolutely maintain the confidentiality of privileged information
  • Must keep current with professional standards associated with work duties
  • Must keep current with emergency management plan procedures
  • Must take action to address harassment and/or aggressive behavior
  • Must use positive behavioral support techniques to address disruptive student behavior
  • Must uphold high standards for proper conduct
  • Must implement effective pupil management procedures
