Job Summary
Paraprofessional to support a group of students or an individual student throughout the school day, assisting with instructional, physical, social/emotional, and behavioral needs under supervision; maintain data records; modify the learning environment to accommodate student needs; communicate changes to the supervising teacher; assist with health-related procedures to maintain a safe learning environment; support inclusion of students in regular school programs under the guidance of the supervising teacher and general education teacher; attend faculty meetings and perform additional duties as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Valid Educator License with Stipulations (ELS); endorsed as a Paraprofessional Educator from the Illinois State Board of Education
- Work well with minimal supervision and able to effectively and efficiently prioritize and complete multiple tasks simultaneously with attention to detail
- Able to communicate clearly and concisely, both orally and in writing
- Friendly and professional attitude as well as discretion in matters relating to students, parents, staff members, and office business matters
- Work well with others
- Computer skills necessary, including Microsoft Office
- Adept at learning and using other related software and web-based programs
- Accountable to: Supervising teacher, Principal, Assistant Principal
- Attendant functions including maintain data records as directed by the classroom or supervising teacher
- Ability to travel between job sites
- Certification in CPI, if assigned to special education
- Terms of Employment: 180 days per year, 4 Paid Holidays, 7 hours per day
- FLSA Status: Hourly/Non-Exempt
