Job Summary
Provide instructional assistance to students under the direct supervision of a certified teacher by preparing, conducting, and managing classroom activities. Assist with administering and scoring objective testing instruments while helping maintain an orderly classroom environment and managing equipment inventory. Supervise students throughout the school day, including lunchroom, bus, and playground duty, and make teachers aware of special needs or individual student problems. Cover classes for teacher absences when substitutes are not available and participate in faculty meetings and staff development training as assigned. Follow district safety protocols and emergency procedures while working inside and outside the classroom.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or hold a General Educational Development (GED) certificate
- Have met formal academic assessment, associate's degree, or two years of study at an institution of higher learning*
- Ability to assist in instructing reading, writing, and mathematics
- Ability to work well with children
- Ability to communicate effectively
- Some experience working with children
