Job Summary

Instruct assigned students in designated areas while maintaining a clean, safe, and orderly environment conducive to learning. Provide direct instruction and educational support for students in In-School Suspension, manage student assignments, and supervise student aides or parent volunteers as needed. Maintain constant supervision, communicate with classroom teachers regarding attendance and completion, and keep accurate records per law and district policy. Assist administration in implementing policies and rules to govern student life. Work consistently in a noisy, active school environment, occasionally outdoors for tasks such as loading buses or supervising safety drills.

Required Qualifications

  • 60 college hours
  • passing score on the para assessment
  • ability to read, analyze and interpret professional journals, board policy, administrative procedures/forms, and government regulations and guidelines
  • ability to complete forms, write reports, and engage in written correspondence with parents
  • ability to write clearly and complete lesson plans
  • ability to work with mathematical concepts such as probability and statistical inference
  • ability to apply concepts such as fractions, percentages, ratios, and proportions to practical situations
  • ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • knowledge of current educational theory and instructional techniques
  • understanding of basic computer functions such as word processing and internet use
  • ability to use district software for recording and finding student information
  • ability to be organized
  • ability to be honest
  • ability to be educationally grounded

  • ability to keep information confidential when required by law, policy, or a particular situation
