Job Summary
Assist certified staff in the classroom to meet instructional goals by reinforcing reading, language arts, mathematics, and computer skills for students individually and in small groups. Administer and correct classroom exercises, manage behavioral disruptions to ensure safety, and support students with special needs in maximizing IEP objectives and activities of daily living. Construct, copy, and distribute educational materials while maintaining accurate record-keeping for student performance. Supervise non-instructional areas including lunch programs, bus duty, and field trips, and facilitate parent contact as requested. Participate in IEP processes and serve as a resource for student personnel evaluations.
Required Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent
- Successful completion of college level coursework or passing of examination as required by the No Child Left Behind Act
Desired Qualifications
- Prior experience working with special needs children
