Job Summary
Work closely with students with special needs in small group or 1:1 settings to build rapport and foster a safe, nurturing learning environment. Support resource teachers in delivering IEPs, take direction from lead educators, and assist with various moderate to severe scenarios including toileting, personal care, and challenging behaviors. Observe and communicate across varied indoor and outdoor settings while maintaining physical stamina for sitting, standing, and lifting up to 30 lbs. Receive 1:1 check-ins with a dedicated consultant for feedback and career planning, with pay ranging up to $26 hourly based on assignment length and certification.
Required Qualifications
- Passion for education and putting students first
- An empathetic nature, a growth mindset, and a drive to be the best you can be
- College credits, Associate's Degree, Bachelors Degree or CBEST
- Three professional references, including at least one from a previous supervisor
- State & federal background checks
- TB risk assessment or test
- Comfortable working with medically fragile/high behavior situations
- Sitting, standing, and walking, and able to lift up to 30 lbs while safely assisting students
- Observe and communicate across varied environments, incl. indoor and outdoor settings
Desired Qualifications
- Worked with children who have Special Education needs
- Spent time in Special Education settings
- Any Special Education specific training
- ABA experience (Applied Behavior Analysis)
- Experience working in K-12 schools
- Experience with assisting in various mod to severe scenarios such as Toileting; Personal 1:1 Care; Non-Verbal; Challenging or Aggressive Behaviors in the Classroom
