Job Summary
Support the classroom teacher as the primary assistant, ensuring a meaningful educational experience for children through instructional projects and daily activities including snack preparation. Supervise students at all times during pool, physical education, busing, and transitional tasks while assisting with physical care and behavioral management needs. Maintain classroom cleanliness, share relevant student information with the teacher, and lead peers professionally during the teacher's absence. Adhere to agency policies, attend assigned training, and uphold the philosophy of equal opportunity and independence for all children and families.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Minimum 2 years of experience working in an early childhood education setting
- Must be at least 18 years of age
- Ability to professionally lead peers on a team
- Demonstrated ability to take direction from supervisory staff
- Demonstrated positive interpersonal skills
- Demonstrated ability to follow through on assignments
- Demonstrated acceptance of and sensitivity in interacting with people with disabilities
- Demonstrated ability to accept feedback
- Must be able to lift and/or move up to 50 pounds
- Travel is primarily local during the business day (as needed), but employee may be expected to travel to a residential house in emergency situations
