Job Summary
Conduct emergency, diabetic, and first aid care while administering medication safely and triaging students for the school nurse. Provide monitoring, assist with vision and audio screenings, and document health office visits and immunization records. Prepare medications for field trips, follow concussion and asthma allergy protocols, and organize health cards for absent students. Perform office duties including data entry, mail merge, and distributing communications, while assisting students at arrival, dismissal, and during lunch and recess. Respond to walk-in and telephone services using intra-school communication systems, model appropriate behaviors, and maintain a professional rapport with teachers, parents, and staff.
Required Qualifications
- A high school diploma or GED
- Ability to walk, stand, bend, twist, balance, stoop, climb steps and reach overhead
- Committed to helping all students learn
- Willingness to participate in professional development and in-service trainings
- Regular daily attendance
- Demonstrates flexibility and responsiveness
- Ability to work with diverse populations and handle situations with tact and diplomacy
- Ability to establish good relationships with parents and staff
- Ability to organize, file and retrieve records/materials
- Ability to work under administrative, secretarial, nurse and staff direction
- Must be a proficient reader
- Knowledge of Microsoft office software include word, excel, power point, and outlook
- Proficient typing skills
- Possess the manual dexterity, physical ability, and stamina for a full day of various physical activity
- Verification of U.S. citizenship or legal authorization to work in the United States
- Successful completion of a pre-employment drug test
- Successful completion of a tuberculosis skin test
- Successful completion of a pre-employment medical examination
