Job Summary
Support the classroom teacher by supervising children at all times, including playground, motor time, busing, and transitional activities. Impart the agency philosophy of Equal Opportunity, Independence, and Realization of Individual Potential to children, families, staff, and community resources. Work with individual students or groups on instructional projects to achieve individualized goals and assist with behavioral management needs. Maintain classroom cleanliness, orderly equipment, and supplies while ensuring the well-being and education of children. Contribute to the development of IEPs and participate in conferences, workshops, and in-service training as needed. Adhere to agency policies, including the Mandated Reporter role, and maintain confidentiality of all information. Perform both instructional and non-instructional duties under the supervision of the classroom teacher, with oversight by the Daycare and Preschool Directors.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or GED equivalent
- Must be 18 year of age or older
- Successful completion of courses for CPR training
- Understands role as Mandated Reporter
- Full Time, School year (10 + 6) position
- Monday through Friday during program hours
- Evening work may be required as job duties demand
- Regular interaction with children, families, teachers, therapists, Directors and other agency staff and community members
- Ability to work with others and in a team scenario
- Demonstrate the ability to take direction from supervisory staff and complete as well as accept any feedback
- Demonstrate positive interpersonal skills
- Demonstrate acceptance of and sensitivity in interacting with all individuals and including individuals with a disability
- Must be able to lift and/or move objects up to 50 pounds
- Must be able to push/pull objects up to 50 pounds
- Regularly required to talk or hear
- Frequently required to sit, stand, walk, bend
- Use hands to finger, handle or feel
- Reach with hands and arms
- Functions as a positive, contributing member of the classroom team
- Demonstrates consistent, nurturing manner toward all children
- Maintains confidentiality of information relating to individuals and their families in accordance with agency policy
- Works the daily schedule agreed upon when hired and in offer letter

Desired Qualifications
- One to two years of childhood education experience, preferably including work with young children with disabilities
- Willingness to learn and grow within the Preschool setting
