Paraprofessional- ESL

The Bilingual Paraeducator delivers instruction and tutoring in all subject areas to English Learner students, acts as a liaison among school administration, counselors, teachers, and families, and coordinates parent volunteer activities. Key duties include interpreting communications between school staff and families, translating notes and forms to home language, supporting students' listening/speaking/reading/writing development in the home language, providing small-group or one-on-one tutoring, coordinating native-language content-area tutoring with ELAD and teachers, assisting with classroom management and discipline, attending relevant workshops, maintaining required records, coordinating parent-volunteer activities, and performing limited non-instructional tasks such as lunchroom/playground supervision and bus duties as assigned. Must work in a school environment, communicate effectively in English and at least one major language of the served student population, and be able to lift/move materials as needed. Minimum qualifications include an Associate Degree (or equivalent college credit or ParaPro Praxis with HS diploma), plus age and language-proficiency requirements. Desirable qualifications include college preferred and a competitive salary/benefits package. Locations indicated: Avondale, Louisiana.
