Job Summary
Paraprofessional Classroom STRIVE Pre-Kindergarten. Assist the teacher with students in the classroom and in lunchroom/playground/bus transitions; operate a copying machine under teacher supervision; assist with feeding and toileting of students requiring total care; assist with lifting/positioning of non-ambulatory students; support students with self-help skills; provide general classroom support and perform other duties as assigned. Requires educator licensure or substantiation equivalent in Illinois, completion of CPI courses, and ability to pass pre-placement agility/fitness testing; CPI refresher courses required. Provides instructional support and supervision in a Pre-K through 12 setting as part of the instructional team, with emphasis on safety, proper conduct, and collaboration with school staff.
Required Qualifications
- Educator Licensure with Stipulation or valid Illinois Teaching Licensure or 90-day sub licensure (to obtain an Educator Licensure with Stipulations from the Regional Superintendent’s Office, you must provide proof of 60 college hours from an accredited college or pass either the ETS ParaPro Assessment test or ACT Work Keys Assessment test at Lincoln Land Community College)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to perform all job-related functions
- Ability to understand and follow verbal or written directions
- Ability to communicate and maintain good working relationships with other employees and general staff of the assigned school
- Physical and TB test
- Must take CPI course and refresher courses
