Job Summary
Paraprofessional Classroom role in Springfield, IL. Responsibilities include assisting the teacher with students in the classroom, supervising students in the lunchroom and on the playground, assisting with material preparation using a copying machine, and aiding with feeding and toileting of students requiring total care. Also expected to assist with lifting and positioning of non-ambulatory students, support student self-help skills, and perform other duties as assigned. Requires Educator Licensure with Stipulation or Illinois Teaching Licensure (or 90-day sub licensure) and a high school diploma or equivalent; must pass physical/ TB tests and complete CPI training with refreshers. Full-time schedule of 7 hours per day across 191 school days per year.
Required Qualifications
- Educator Licensure with Stipulation or valid Illinois Teaching Licensure or 90-day sub licensure
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to perform all job-related functions
- Ability to understand and follow verbal or written directions
- Ability to communicate and maintain good working relationships with other employees and general staff of the assigned school
- Physical and TB test
- Must take CPI course and refresher courses
