Job Summary
Assist scholars in meeting daily personal and academic goals while guiding them through class transitions and supporting alternative academic tasks in inclusive classrooms. Collaborate closely with the education team to ensure scholar wellbeing, develop coping strategies, and provide one-on-one support to help students reset for the classroom. Assist lead teachers with lesson materials and collect data on individual academic and behavioral goals. Support scholars with personal daily life skills including toileting, feeding, and hygiene. This full-time, in-person campus placement serves Grades 5-12 students at Valor Collegiate Academies, where paraprofessionals work within a diverse, rigorous academic environment.
Required Qualifications
- You are authorized to work in the U.S. without requiring visa sponsorship from employer
- You have experience and passion for working with children with disabilities
- You have an unwavering belief that all students can succeed in school and beyond
- You have a relentless drive to develop your practice to sharpen your skills as an educator
- You set ambitious goals for yourself and others and are not afraid of putting in the hard work it takes to achieve them
- You have the passion and commitment to serve a culturally and socioeconomically diverse community of students and families
- You enjoy cultivating meaningful relationships with students, families, and staff
- You are able to model, live, and reinforce our school's core values, commitments, and policies
Desired Qualifications
- Paraprofessionals with Bachelor's degrees are eligible to apply for Valor's Transition to Teach Program after one full academic year of service, which provides an in-house pathway for paraprofessionals to enter the teaching profession
