Job Summary
Paraprofessional 2 provides instructional support to the district's specialized classrooms under the supervision of the Lead Teacher, assisting in implementing instruction, monitoring behavior, administering tests and assignments, aiding in developing lesson plans, and supporting students with disabilities (e.g., life skills, autism) to reinforce instructional objectives and ensure student success. Duties include adapting activities, maintaining instructional materials, communicating with staff and parents, assisting with IEP objectives, and providing health-related assistance as needed; position requires collaboration with teachers to support a safe, inclusive learning environment. Terms of employment are 186 days; FLSA status is hourly and non-exempt. Location is Kansas City, Kansas.
Required Qualifications
- Have a high school diploma or a GED certificate and
- Complete 48 hours at an institution of higher education OR
- Obtain an associate’s (or higher) degree OR
- Job related experience preferred.
- Pass a State approved assessment. Approved assessments include: Workkeys, ParaPro, or Para Educator (If you do not have a State approved assessment, KCKPS will offer one credential assessment test to candidates recommended for hire)
