Job Summary
Paraprofessional 1 in Kansas City, KS Public Schools provides instructional support in assigned classrooms, assisting Lead Teacher with supervision, care, and instruction of students, including those with special needs; helps implement IEP objectives, supports in implementing lesson plans, administers tests and assignments, monitors behavior, maintains instructional materials, communicates with staff and parents, and may provide first aid as needed. Requires a high school diploma or GED with options for 48 college hours, an associate degree, or a state-approved assessment; strong collaboration, classroom management, and ability to adapt activities to support diverse learners are essential.
Required Qualifications
- Have a high school diploma or a GED certificate
- Complete 48 hours at an institution of higher education OR
- Obtain an associate’s (or higher) degree OR
- Pass a State approved assessment (Workkeys, ParaPro, or Para Educator)
