Job Summary
Paraprofessional 1:1 STRIVE - FLOATER in Springfield, IL. The role supports classroom teachers with students, including supervision in the lunchroom, playground, and bus transitions, and assists with materials preparation, feeding/toileting of students requiring total care, lifting of non-ambulatory students, and helping students with self-help skills. Requires educator licensure or valid Illinois teaching licensure (or 90-day sub licensure with proof of college hours or completion of ParaPro/ACT Work Keys), a high school diploma or equivalent, CPI training, TB test, and pre-placement agility/fit-for-duty exam. Responsible for collaborating with school staff and maintaining positive relationships while following verbal or written directions and adhering to all stated responsibilities. Duties include assisting teachers, supervising students, and performing related tasks as assigned.
Required Qualifications
- Must be 18+ for Pre-K through 5th Grade or 20+ for 6th Grade through 12th Grade
- Educator Licensure with Stipulation or valid Illinois Teaching Licensure or 90-day sub licensure (to obtain licensure with stipulations, provide proof of 60 college hours or pass ETS ParaPro/ACT Work Keys)
- High school diploma or equivalent
- Ability to perform all job-related functions
- Ability to understand and follow directions (verbal or written)
- Ability to communicate and maintain good working relationships with staff
- Physical and TB test
- Must take CPI course and refresher courses
- Must pass pre-placement agility/fit for duty exam with MOHA
- Assist teacher with students and supervision in various settings
- Assist with feeding/toileting and lifting of non-ambulatory students
- Perform other duties as assigned
