Job Summary
Supports individual students with IEPs in academic, health, daily living, and behavioral needs across integrated/settings; monitors classroom activities under supervising teacher; performs daily living procedures (toileting, diapering, feeding, personal hygiene); provides medically invasive procedures (tube feeding, catheterization) as trained; lifts/transports students with proper equipment; supports implementation of IEP-based behavior and health plans; implements accommodations and modifications; collects data on IEP goals under supervision; communicates with students and parents about routine educational issues as directed by the supervising special education teacher.
Required Qualifications
- Paraprofessional qualifications per DPS guide
- Specialized training in invasive procedures (tube feeding, catheterization) to be provided as assigned
- Must pass district-approved written and physical exams on de-escalation and physical restraint (annual)
- Required training completed within 75 days of initial hire
- Valid Colorado driver’s license or ability to obtain within state requirements if transporting students
- Live and work with a permanent home address in Colorado
- Ability to meet physical demands of the position
