Job Summary
Administer pre-hospital care within scope of licensure under the direction of a licensed physician, adhering to hospital policies and Illinois Department of Public Health regulations. Assess each patient's age-specific needs and provide corresponding treatment and care. Operate specialized equipment for all procedures approved by IDPH and/or EMS while maintaining professional appearance and functioning calmly during emergency situations. Requires Illinois Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic certification, EKG course completion, and a valid driver's license with no recent suspensions or reckless driving convictions. Involves medium to heavy physical demands including lifting 100 pounds or more, standing, walking, and exposure to extreme weather conditions inside and outside.
Required Qualifications
- High school graduate or equivalency
- Illinois Emergency Medical Technician Paramedic and CPR
- Illinois drivers license with no suspensions/revocations within the past three years, or any convictions for reckless driving, speeding (in excess of 15mph over the limit), or driving under the influence within the past five years
- EKG course
- Ability to function in a calm, efficient manner during emergency/crisis situations
- Demonstrated leadership capabilities
- Motor coordination and finger dexterity required to operate ambulance and equipment in a safe manner
- Maintains professional appearance in accordance with the department dress code policy
- Work is of medium to heavy demand
- Routine lifting requirements of 100 pounds or more
- Standing and walking are required throughout the shift
- Sitting, reaching, bending, pushing, and pulling are required
- Works inside and outside with exposure to extreme weather conditions
