Job Summary
Collect and convey patient health status information to the RN and physician throughout the Emergency Department visit. Initiate emergent care, stabilize injured patients, and extricate them from vehicles at the department entrance. Perform specialized tasks including airway management, wound care, phlebotomy, EKGs, and IV catheter insertion. Assist with patient flow, gowning, vital signs, and transport as directed. Administer limited medications upon completion of the required pharmacology exam. Report defective equipment, clean rooms, and manage supplies to maintain department operations. Requires Indiana EMT-P certification, ACLS, PALS, and Basic Life Safety.
Required Qualifications
- State certified EMT-P course completion
- EMT-P Certification, State of Indiana
- Competencies for routine clinical tests and procedures
- ACLS certification
- PALS certification
- Basic Life Safety (American Heart Association)
- Advanced Cardiac Life Support (American Heart Association)
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (American Heart Association) or ENPC
Desired Qualifications
- One (1) year of experience working as a paramedic
