Job Summary
Paramedic in Emergency Department providing care for assigned ED patients. Demonstrates competency in procedures within scope of practice; obtains and interprets information for patient needs; assists with planning and implementing care with RN and medical providers. Responsibilities include ordering, stocking, and replenishing supplies; setting up and assisting with procedures; handling medications (as listed) and IV therapy; performing phlebotomy, wound care, 12-lead EKG, cardiac monitoring, and identification of dysrhythmias; administers medications per physician/RN direction; provides Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Life Support (ALS) duties to the extent of training; transports stable non-ICU patients to inpatient units; participates in ED process improvement and patient experience initiatives; mandatory to respond to disasters. Requires Florida paramedic certification and related BLS/ALS/PALS credentials. Work experience: 1 year to <2 years.
Required Qualifications
- Formal Education: Vocational or other technical school, certification, training or apprenticeship required beyond high school
- Work Experience: 1 year to < 2 years
- Required Licenses, Certifications, Registrations: Paramedic Florida State Certification and/or Paramedic National Registry Certification
- BLS, ALS and PALS certifications through the American Heart Association required
