Job Summary
Paramedic provides direct patient care in the Emergency Department under physician supervision, performing advanced technical skills and treatments, including wound care, IV fluid administration, bloodwork, and pre-established medication protocols (including vasoactive meds) with required certifications and ongoing trainings. Must demonstrate strong data-entry/computer skills, effective verbal and written communication, and the ability to work independently as well as part of a clinical team. Adheres to EMTALA and hospital policies; maintains competency through annual reviews and fulfills certification timelines.
Required Qualifications
- Education Required – High school diploma or equivalent
- Graduation from an approved Paramedic Program
- Work Experience Required – None
- Certifications Required – Paramedic License in the State of Practice
- Certified with the National Registry of Emergency Medical Technicians as a Paramedic
- Current Basic Life Support (BLS) certification from the American Heart Association
- Advanced Cardiovascular Life Support (ACLS) to be obtained within 90 days of hire
- Pediatric Advanced Life Support (PALS) certification to be obtained within 90 days of hire
- Crisis Prevention Intervention (CPI) Certification to be obtained within 30 days of hire
