Job Summary
Operate an emergency vehicle to assess, treat, and transport patients while managing airways, administering IV therapy, and performing defibrillation. Control hazards at emergency scenes, extricate entrapped patients, and manage mass casualty triage under physician supervision. Lift and move patients, maintain emergency supplies, and complete detailed documentation of care and interventions. Utilize specialized communication equipment to consult physicians and notify hospitals, adhering to state and federal regulations. Maintain ACLS, NREMT, and PALS certifications while attending continuing medical education.
Required Qualifications
- NREMT-Paramedic
- Alabama State Paramedic EMSP license
- ACLS certification
- NIMS Training
- PALS Training
- CPR certification
- Knowledge of appropriate safety equipment when exposure to infectious organisms, agents, and toxic chemicals
- Strong communication skills with the ability to effectively communicate with patients, families, staff, physicians, support agencies, vendors, and clinics
- Critical thinking skills with the ability to evaluate and interpret information and make decisions with a partner once trained
- Ability to remain calm during stressful situations
- Ability to respond to phone calls and emails quickly
- Ability to mix own medications with correct knowledge of proper concentrations
- Ability to lift a minimum of 150 lbs. independently, more with assistance
- Ability to repeatedly twist, squat, stoop, bend, grasp, use fine hand coordination, push, and pull
- Ability to work in a confined and mobile environment
- Must pass a drug test and background check as part of the hiring process
