Job Summary
Assess and provide advanced patient care using medical equipment, defibrillators, and medications while driving the ambulance and managing call response times. Maintain all required certifications, monitor ambulance conditions, and document patient care and billing activities. Communicate with dispatchers, determine transportation destinations based on patient status, and adhere to strict turnaround policies. Work collaboratively with public safety personnel and be prepared to work past scheduled shifts with little notice.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent (GED)
- Current state paramedic license
- Valid state driver's license
- Current BCLS, ACLS, PALS or PEPP, and BTLS or PHTLS provider certification (where applicable or required by contract)
- Driving record in compliance with AMR safety and driving policy
- Must be able to successfully pass the Physical Agility Test
- Good physical stamina, endurance, and body condition that would not be adversely affected by frequently having to walk, stand, lift, carry, and balance at times
- Must be able to lift, drag, hoist, and carry different types of equipment and other objects
- Ability to work past scheduled shift with little or no notice
