Job Summary
Paramedic in the Emergency Department delivering care to patients with acute illness or injury under physician and RN supervision. Responsibilities include information gathering, patient/family instruction and documentation, life-saving or limb-saving measures, ACLS interventions, intubation under physician direction, insertion of IV/IO and monitoring, 12-lead EKG, initiation of cardiac monitoring and IV fluids, airway management, wound care and suturing assistance, immobilization and splinting, oxygen delivery and aerosol treatments, patient communication, and active participation in trauma/stroke teams. Must practice within Ohio State Law and collaborate with the healthcare team to provide high-quality emergency care.
Required Qualifications
- Must be a graduate of an accredited program of paramedic training
- Must possess a current certification as an EMT-Paramedic from the State of Ohio; National Registry is preferred
- Minimum of one year’s experience in pre-hospital emergency care
- Must be currently certified in BLS and ACLS; PALS within one year of employment
- Ability to read and write small letters and numbers and perform complex arithmetic and financial application
