Job Summary
Carry out a treatment plan in collaboration with a multidisciplinary team while maintaining clear communication with the attending physician, ED nursing, and other healthcare members. Assist in care delivery by taking vital signs, performing point of care testing, EKGs, venipuncture, IV insertion, and collecting lab specimens. Support nursing staff with ED processes during transport downtime and participate as a driver for the USA Southstar ambulance, ensuring the vehicle remains well-stocked. Document appropriately in the electronic medical record, promote patient safety and family-centered care, and adhere to infection control standards. Complete all mandatory departmental and educational requirements. Work 20 hours or more per week (.50 FTE or greater) with regular and prompt attendance, including overtime as required.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent
- graduate of an EMT-Paramedic course
- 1 year paramedic experience
- Licensed as a paramedic in the state of Alabama
- ACLS
- BCLS - Basic Life Support
- DL NUMBER - Driver License, Valid and in State Possession of a valid driver's license
- maintenance of a driving record sufficient to maintain insurance coverage under the University of South Alabama
