Job Summary
Paramedic Field Supervisor oversees ambulance/transport operations on third shift, providing staff coaching and supervision, coordinating staffing and scheduling, performing clinical and clerical quality assurance audits of electronic patient care records, and acting as a liaison between referrals and the dispatch center. Responsibilities include delivering clinical care at the appropriate level (ALS/BLS/SCT) when supervising personnel, ensuring operational readiness, maintaining compliance with policies and protocols, and managing on-shift operations to minimize delays in patient care and transfers. The role requires leadership, effective communication with management, physicians, nurses, and staff, and the ability to manage resources, routes, and documentation in a high-volume EMS environment.
Required Qualifications
- High School Diploma or equivalent.
- Associate degree is required.
- 3 years experience in emergency or non-emergency medical transport service or a combination of both.
- 1 year of training or supervising staff preferred.
- Valid driver’s license.
- DOT Medical Examiner’s Certificate required.
- BLS Certification (American Heart Association Healthcare Provider).
- ACLS certification required.
- PALS certification required.
- EMT Paramedic Certification or equivalent for primary state of assignment required prior to end of orientation.
- EMT Paramedic Certification or equivalent for secondary state of assignment required within 6 months of hire.
- EVOC is required and will be provided during orientation.
- Ambulance Service Manager (ASM) certified preferred.
- Must be 21 years of age.
- Basic level ability navigating in Microsoft Office and EMR data entry.
- Driving record acceptable to company’s insurance carrier.
- Ability to perform pharmacological calculations.
