Job Summary
Determine donor eligibility by conducting medical history interviews, physical examinations, and blood testing while managing informed consent and confidential self-exclusion. Evaluate donor reactions and follow SOPs for medical emergencies, including developing standing orders and transporting donors to emergency care. Review laboratory test results, notify donors of unsuitable findings, and manage employee incidents requiring occupational health evaluation. Support Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccination programs and act as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized. Report to the Plasma Center Manager and Center Physician for operational and medical guidance while adhering to FDA training and EHS regulations.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
- Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-Paramedic
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
- Fulfill state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy
- Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Two years in a clinical or hospital setting
- Familiar with regulations of the plasma collection industry or a manufacturing environment
