Job Summary
Determine donor eligibility through informed consent, medical history interviews, and physical examinations while managing adverse events and reviewing laboratory results. Evaluate donor reactions per SOPs and coordinate medical emergencies by following standing orders for donor transport to emergency care facilities. Support center operations by administering Hepatitis B and seasonal flu vaccinations, managing employee incidents, and acting as a Pandemic Coordinator when authorized. Refer unacceptable findings to the Center Physician or Medical Affairs for guidance on donor safety and eligibility.
Required Qualifications
- High school diploma or equivalent to including graduate equivalent of a recognized educational nursing program with state requirements
- Currently licensed or certified in the state where responsibilities will be assigned: EMT-Paramedic
- Current Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR) and AED certification
- Fulfill state requirements (in state of licensure) for basic IV therapy
- Satisfactorily complete the FDA approved training requirements for BioLife Medical Support Specialist
- Two years in a clinical or hospital setting
